Working in the Dark?

Vinnie the Vampire

Vinnie does his best work in the dark. Most humans do not.

As leaders, we must get people out of the dark. We must:

  • share our purpose, vision and values
  • make roles, goals and expectations clear
  • give feedback
  • get problems and situations out in the open

And even when we think we are doing all of that, we must invite, encourage and make it safe for people to tell us things like:

  • what they don’t know or understand
  • what would make things run smoother
  • and anything else we may be in the dark about

If we don’t do these things, our team members will likely join the 68% of the American work force that is not engaged in their work. That’s bad in so many ways. For them and us.

Get yourself and your team out of the dark.

Grab this book for tips on how to do it.
