Take Back Your Time

Take Back Your Time Day is on October 24.  Here’s a poem I wrote years ago, though you will see that it has been updated to include changes in technology. It’s based on a true story. Whose story? Could be any one of a number of people I know. How about you?

Take It Back

by Jan Bolick

Rush rush

Hurry hurry

Still behind

Late for a meeting

Heart racing

Try to listen

Toe tapping

Boss waiting

Stacks of paper

Email

Text & tweet

Linked in

Facebook

+1

Staffers waiting

Bottleneck

Bulging briefcase

Car pool

Step on it, Mister

Don’t miss the light

Kids waiting

Drive through

Eat in the car

Soccer game

On sideline

Phone in hand

Cheer the team

Return call

Cheer the team

Return next call

Homework

Load of laundry

Fall into bed

Aching head

Does any of that ring true for you?

Take back your time.

What is it that you REALLY need to be doing as the leader of your team?

What’s keeping you from spending more time doing that?

Go ahead – take back your time.

It’s yours.

Really.

And just in case you need some how-to’s, go see Vinnie. He has lots of treats for you including 10 Time Goblins a new EEEK-Book entitled Bite Size Bits for Business.

Bite Size Bits for Business

P.S.  Help team members determine the most important things for them to do and the obstacles in their way as well.  Doing so will serve as huge boosts to morale and productivity.
