Here’s a poem that came to my mind a few years ago. It’s based on a true story. Whose story? Could be any one of a number of people I know. How about you?
TAKE BACK YOUR TIME
by Jan Bolick
Rush rush
Hurry hurry
Still behind
Late for a meeting
Heart racing
Boss waiting
Stacks of paper
Staffers waiting
100 Emails
Bottleneck
Bulging briefcase
Car pool
Step on it, Mister
Don’t miss the light
Kids waiting
Drive through
Eat in the car
Soccer game
On sideline
Phone in hand
Cheer the team
Return call
Cheer the team
Return next call
Homework
Load of laundry
Aching head
Fall into bed

Can you relate to any of that?
Apparently many people do because there is an actual National Take Back Your Time Day.
It’s October 24.
Use that as a nudge.
Block some time on your October 24 calendar. Just ten minutes would be good. An hour even better. Or be bold and block off the whole day.
Between now and then – think about things you’ve been wishing you had time to do.
By the end of the day on Thursday, decide what you will do to observe Take Back Your Time Day and get ready to enjoy your present
Apparently it’s happening nationwide because October 24 is Take Back Your Time Day.
What will you do to celebrate?
