Super Sized Salsa Celebration

Lots of people had fun celebrating National Salsa Month.

One reader said that it reminded her that they had been hunkering down in their office for far too long – and that it was time to lighten up a bit. Celebrating National Salsa Month gave them a way to do it. Boosting morale and productivity both in a very budget conscious way.

Another reader, Tracey Goetz, who is Broker in Charge of Prudential Carolinas Realty in Durham, really took the salsa and ran with it!

It just so happens that she’s been taking salsa lessons. And so in addition to bringing in chips and salsa and playing Mexican music at her sales meeting, she brought in a pinata AND her salsa instructor!!

She and the instructor demonstrated a few of the new moves she had learned and then she invited others to join in. When some of them accepted and others remained wall flowers, she took the opportunity to start a discussion about the things that keep people on the sidelines – watching instead of participating. Things like fear, self-consciousness or just not knowing how. And that led to conversations about dealing with fear and the importance of learning and practicing “new moves”.

As a grand finale, she had a prize drawing for all attendees and the winner won…..
a gift certificate for salsa lessons.

Whether you celebrated with the simple approach described in It’s National Salsa Month or with a Super Sized Salsa Celebration as described above or with something in between or not at all – it wasn’t your last dance, nor was it your last chance to build morale and productivity.

There are many more opportunities for fun “celebrations” in June. Take a look. June is:

  • National Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Month
  • National Iced Tea Month
  • National Rose Month
  • National Safety Month
  • National Tennis MonthChoose one or more from the list – or make up your own. Celebrate simply or feel free to Super Size them like Tracey did.

Just DON’T let that Super Size story keep you on the sidelines.

Just jump in! Let these celebrations give you an excuse to take a break from the norm. To laugh, have fun, break the tension. To show appreciation. In the process, you might even end up boosting morale and productivity.

P.S. I’ll post some ideas for ways to celebrate these special June occasions. Your ideas are heartily welcomed! Just type them in the “Comments” box below.
