Last week’s quote was Keep It Simple. This week’s quote can help us simplify.
What to leave undone?
I once read that 20% of our work time is lost doing unnecessary things.
That’s a full day in a 5 day work week. Do we really fritter away that much time? I find that part discouraging. The encouraging part of it is…it’s possible that some of us are doing far more than we really HAVE to do.
What if we left that 20% undone?
Then maybe we could get around to some of the other stuff we never get around to doing. You know…the stuff that’s been on our to do lists for a long, long, long time? Some that’s been started. Some not. Either way – these things have a way of weighing us down with worry, guilt and feelings of incompetence. In some cases – that’s good because it serves as a kick in the pants to get er done.
But in other cases – does it really need to be done?
Use this week’s quote as food for thought and discussion this week. Print it, share it, post it on your computer screen (see instructions below) as a reminder to look for ways to be more noble.
Based on your desired outcomes…
- What are you doing that doesn’t really need to be done?
- What have you started that doesn’t really need to be finished?
- What about other people on your team.
