On the last day of National Poetry Month, our Leadership Quote of the Week is a poem of sorts.
Generalizations often guide decisions and actions – and may cause us to overlook people and projects that are rich with possibility.
They may also cause team members to head in opposite directions. Or to simply be at odds. Which is usually bad news for morale and productivity.
Read this little “poem” at your next staff meeting and post it on the wall as a reminder:
- that things aren’t always one way or the other – or “black and white”
- that the “in between” or “gray” areas are rich with possibility
- that our views aren’t necessarily “right”
- to consider other views
- to discuss them with others
