Thankfully there are many opportunities for boosting revenue during the month of November.
A potential side benefit is a boost to morale and productivity.
All good for bottom line performance.
We’ve selected 10 favorites (in addition to Thanksgiving):
- November 2 – Look for Circles Day
- November 6 – Marooned Without A Compass Day
- November 7 – National Magazine Day
- November 10 – National Vanilla Cupcake Day
- November 25 – Black Friday
- November 28 – Cyber Monday
- National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month
- National Adoption Month
- National Hunger Awareness Month
- National Flu Awareness Month
How can you use these occasions to boost business?
If you sell any of these or related products:
1. Run a store promotion in honor of Look for Circles Day. Look for items with a red circle sticker and receive a discount.
2. Set up a table at the front of the store with signage and associated products or information that you sell to promote : Flu Awareness Month Month or Hunger Awareness Month or any of the other occasions listed above.
3. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are great days to highlight particular items for a special one-day only price.
4. Offer a “Lost My Head” Discount in honor of Marooned Without A Compass Day. When customers bring their items to the register tell them you’ve “lost it” today and will give them a discount on the highest priced item.
5. To promote National Adoption Month if you are a business that sells anything child-related or pet-related, tell your customers a percentage of your profits in November will go towards a local social service agency or animal shelter to help care for those waiting for adoption.
6. Whatever special occasions you choose to highlight, and whatever associated discounts, be sure to announce them on your Facebook page.
7. And to your e-mail subscriber list.
If you don’t sell any of these or related products, you can build and nurture your community by doing things like:
1. For National Magazine Day get a group of magazines and set up a comfy chair in a corner of your store. Make the magazines specific to the person who is “tagging along” with the real shopper. Example…in a women’s clothing boutique, put sports or car magazines for men who are waiting.
2. In honor of National Hunger month, sponsor a canned food drive in your store and donate the food to your local food bank.
3. On National Vanilla Cupcake Day, put out a plate of cupcakes and tell your customers it’s because they are so sweet.
4. Have a massage therapist set up a chair in your store and offer a 5-minute massage to escape Black Friday or Cyber Monday. This is a great twist on two dates that already have huge bottom-line potential.
5. Serve peanut butter cookies in honor of National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month.
If you sell advertising…be sure to contact your clients with ideas on how to celebrate these November occasions. They may not accept all your ideas but they will appreciate your creativity and commitment to bringing them results. You’ll be delivering added value and setting yourself apart from the competition.
There you have it! A month of marketing opportunities that will make your customers say “Thanks”! Make it fun and see some serious results.
If you put any of these ideas to work this month, share your story and photos with Business Class Inc. We’ll post them for everyone to see just how your business boosted morale, productivity and maybe even the bottom line!
Note: These are fun things to celebrate with your staff as well.
