April 28 is Pay It Forward Day

Thank you to Jim Enright who just reminded me with his monthly mailer that Thursday, April 28 is International Pay It Forward Day.

Jim does a really good job with this mailer.  It’s simple.  Printed front and back on yellow 8 1/2 X 11 card stock – cut in half.  In this small amount of space, Jim reminds us of the movie Pay It Forward, shares three lovely quotes,  three great pay it forward stories and a gentle reminder that he is a  mortgage strategist in Chapel Hill, NC, always willing to help  us, our family and friends with home financing.  He even makes a special offer  of free appraisal (up to $400 credit at closing)  which we can’t use  right now but he gave me permission to forward it to you.

So here you go –  if you or someone you know is buying or re-financing, be sure to contact Jim by May 15.

Visit:  www.MortgageChoice.com or contact Jim at 919-929-6116, extension 236 or   Jim@TheMortgageStrategist.com.

Meanwhile – would you like to celebrate International Pay It Forward Day?

A good way to start would be to visit or re-visit the movie in which a teacher (played by Kevin Spacey) gives his class an assignment:  “Think of an idea to change our world change and put it into action”.

Clip #1 below gives an overview of the movie.  Clip #2 shows what happens when 12 year old Trevor McKinney presents his idea to the class. It might remind you of what happens when you share a new idea with your team or try to get them to believe in a goal or possibilities for the future.

Share these clips with your colleagues, friends and family members. Or grab some popcorn and Milk Duds and watch the full version.

What a lovely reminder to Pay It Forward at while at work and play!

How might this play out in the real world? Here are a few examples that Jim shared in his mailer:

  • A boy notices a parking meter about to expire and asked his mother if he could top up the meter to keep the person from getting a ticket.  It saved someone a $79 fine.
  • A woman contacted a hospital to see if there were any needy families that could use flights she was unable to use.  As a result, one family was able to travel to be with a very sick family member who was in the hospital.
  •

You can find more real life stories at the official Pay It Forward Day website.

The possibilities are endless.   And powerful.

And as Jim reminded us on his mailer:

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
    Helen Keller
