10 Ideas for Administrative Professionals

Administrative Professionals Day is Wednesday, April 25. Actually – you can celebrate longer than a day since the entire week of April 23 is Administrative Professionals Week.

The International Association of Administrative Professionals is encouraging people to widen the scope of celebration to include ALL office professionals. Here is a note from their site:

For Administrative Professionals Day 2011, we’re veering away from the traditional celebration of the day which is centered on administrative professionals. The recession has hit everyone in the office. Downsizing has forced all of us to pull together and work harder, not just the administrative professionals in the workplace. IAAP recognizes the hard work and sacrifice from everyone. This year, celebrate all office professionals.

It’s YOUR office so you get to choose! Celebrate as long and as widely as you like. Here are ten ways to show your appreciation to individuals on your team.

1. Lunch. If you have an administrative professional who works with you and only you – take him or her to lunch. Add any of the items below if your budget allows.

2. Make him/her/them Kings and Queens for the day. Have each non-admin member of your team play a role in the royal treatment. Have one person roll out the red carpet (red felt or fabric will do just great). Some else can crown them with crowns from your local party store. Deliver coffee and bagels on a silver tray brought from home. Do the same with lunch. Or take them out for lunch. Have flowers delivered to their desk(s) in the afternoon. And cookies and candy! A day of royal treatment! Or spread it out over the week if you would like.
