News: Blanket Orange County Gears Up to Collect 400 Blankets
Chapel Hill, NC (11-12-10) — Blanket Orange County Director, Jan Bolick, announces that the 7th annual blanket drive begins on November 15 and ends on December 3. This year, the goal is to collect 400 new or gently used blankets for The Interfaith Council (IFC), The Neighborhood House of Hillsborough and The Maggie Alvis Halfway House.
Chris Moran, Executive Director of IFC says: “Blanket Orange County has become an annual event that is greatly welcomed and appreciated by the Inter-Faith Council and our homeless residents who want to stay warm during the winter months. Hundreds upon hundreds of blankets have been donated by friends of Blanket Orange County over the years that are used by residents at Community House and HomeStart. Volunteers and staff also provide blankets to unsheltered persons who sleep outdoors when shelters are full on cold winter nights. Your gifts of blankets are important and they make a huge difference in the lives of homeless persons.”
The blanket drive will run from November 15 through December 3, 2010.
