The power of inaction

Theme for the Week: There’s NO way.

That’s what we imagine the woman at left is saying.

And we are hoping that she will read and post our Quote of the Week as a reminder that even the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. It can be step that takes 5 minutes or less. It just must be taken. Just to “get the ball rolling”. To feel a hint of progress. A bit of achievement. A sense of success.

And what if she doesn’t take a step.  What if she stays right there frozen with fright or indecision?

Read these wise words that Baby Boomer Talk Online sent in one of their daily quotes:

“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.”  ~Anonymous

So …are you going to stand there with her at the bottom of the stairs and think about it?

Or are you going to go out and get busy?

Here are 4 suggested single steps, each of which can be done in 5 minutes or less:

1. Post our Quote of the Week on your computer screen. It may provide just the nudge you need when you’re about to chicken out.

2. Post it in other prominent places too. Here’s a printable vertical version.

3. And if you don’t know what action to take to get started on your journey, get some ideas from  10 steps that can be taken in 5 minutes or less.

4.  And then – take one.

P.S.  If you like these quotes ( in #1 and #2 above) and want even more to reinforce you and your team along the way, be sure to visit the Get 2 Goal section of the Business Class Quote Library.   And if you want to receive daily quotes and inspiration For Boomers by Boomers, visit Baby Boomer Talk Online and sign up in the top right corner. 1. Hey Jan,

Thanks for the links…Enjoying your theme this week, I believe all of us go thru periods of time with inaction. We just feel overwhelmed, frustrated and full of self doubt. Like I was last week after reading Melinda’s post.

    Your blogging friend,

    Mark

    1. Hi Mark,

Glad you are enjoying this week’s theme.
Inaction/action…to me that’s okay…kind of like the ebb and flow of the ocean.

An important key for me is being aware when and if the flow stops or slows; and knowing tools to use when it does so for too long. Tools like phoning or emailing a friend. Pushing away from the desk to do some push ups. Or to look up at the sky. Or getting away for a vacation.

All the things that might be needed to come back to that bottom step and kick in with massive action!

Thanks for writing and for the chance to philosophize a bit!

      Until next time!
