10 Management Lessons from Mom

This weekly feature is for those who don’t have time or don’t want to make time to read lengthy articles or even short paragraphs.  We call it a  Quick List.   AKA – 10 by 10 on Tuesday.   10 ( ideas or tips or questions or steps or ways to Get 2 Goal or Be a Better Manager or Boost Morale and Productivity, etc) by 10 (AM – EST) on Tuesdays.   Click here if you’d like to see all Quick Lists created to date.

This week’s list is drawn from a variety of sources.  The items marked in blue came from  Management Lessons from Mom.    Would love to have you read and share stories there  if you have time.  Or feel free to add to this list in the Comments section below.

1. Take care of yourself.

2.  Be nice.

3.  Mind your manners.  Read Go Ahead:  Use “Please” and “Thank You” by Barbara Pachter.

4.  Pick up after yourself.

5.  Be respectful.

6.  Be generous with support and encouragement.

7.  Use resources wisely.

8.  Study hard and keep learning.

9.  Look for solutions in unexpected places.

10.  Do the right thing, even when no one is watching.

All of these tips can help you be a better manager and get better results whether you are there or not. For more on this, see Quote of the Week: for Managers and Mother’s Day.

Did you learn these same things from your mother?  Or other things?

Whatever you learned, remember that Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 9.

And whether she is here (on this earth) or not – Mother’s Day is a great time to remember her,  thank her,  share memories and celebrate them.

Actually – every day is a good day for this.
