I didn’t get to pick up The Daily Tar Heel(UNC’s campus newspaper) this morning and so thank goodness for Twitter. Because otherwise I might have missed reading about Stefany Picquet, otherwise known as “The Rock”, who works at Starbucks in Chapel Hill.
She totally embodies the spirit that we refer to here at Business Class as “doing business with heart” which tends to works wonders on morale, productivity and customer loyalty.
According to the very well written article by Christina Taylor, other employees say that Stefany “bubbles with personality from the moment she wakes up at 4:45 a.m. until she’s done for the day.”
Why is she known as “The Rock”? “It was back in 2000 when we had really bad ice storms,” Glover said. “She closed and opened the store for three days in a row by herself, so they gave her the name ‘The Rock,’ like the wrestler.” Glover also said, “She has the biggest heart of anybody I know.”
Picquet says, “It’s about feeling welcome, knowing the customer’s name, knowing their drink,” she said. “It’s like Southern hospitality.
I hope you will read the entire story. And if you are trying to build or nurture a culture of “doing business with heart“, it’s a good one to share with your team. Here’s a link to: ”’The Rock’ brings Southern hospitality to Starbucks by Christina Taylor.
Meanwhile, thank you Christina for sharing the story with us. And thank you Stefany for “doing business with heart“.
