16 games yesterday. Lots of close ones. Some amazing upsets.
16 more games today.
What’s going on in your office?
We heard from a government worker who has set up a huge screen every year for the past 25 years.
We know about Mary who brings in a pot of chili on the first day of the tournament every year.
In both situations, sounds like both workers and boss are happy about the way the madness is managed. Good balance of business and basketball. No need for a “boss button”. No damage to productivity or morale. In fact, maybe a boost to both – short and long term.
Yesterday I read about Peppino’s Sports Lounge in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They held a “work-in” yesterday. Fans were invited to come and pay a fee to reserve a table for a few hours or the whole afternoon. They could watch the games, eat and drink — and try to get a little work done. Lots of workers were photographed and interviewed. Proceeds from the event, about $4,000, went to repair the city’s public basketball courts. Read all about it in: “March Madness NCAA tournaments draw basketball fans from workplace to ‘work-in’“ by Kaitlin Shawgo/ The Grand Rapids Press.
Sounds like a great idea. Worthy cause.
Let’s just hope the boss was there…or at least knew about it.
Otherwise….refer to title of this post.
