If you want to be a better manager, pay attention to these hints from Santa, as observed by Janta, Santa’s sister.

  1. He has a vision – to bring joy and happiness to children all over the world.
  2. He shares his vision enthusiastically – as evidenced by frequent HOHOHO’s.
  3. His overall goal and expectations are clear –    to deliver toys to all children before daybreak on December 25.
  4. His expectations are high – as evidenced by #3.
  5. He breaks big goals into smaller ones –  working with his elves throughout the year to produce all the toys.
  6. He is an excellent time manager – producing millions of toys and delivering them all in one night.
  7. He is a great role model.  He takes the vision and the goals very seriously – often incurring great risks, like flying through the sky and sliding down chimneys, to make them happen.
  8. He selects great helpers and puts their unique talents to work.    Perfect example –   Rudolph with his nose so bright.
  9. He is a master at building strong teams who can do amazing things –  like his reindeer team who flies through the sky.
  10. He is a master delegator.  Just look at his elves and what they produce.
  11. He makes people, elves and reindeer feel very special.
  12. He knows if you’ve been good or not –   and rewards accordingly.
  13. He gets and stays behind his reindeer.
  14. He does a great job AND has a great time doing it!

Whether you believe in Santa or not – there is much to learn from how he leads the way.

Happy Holidays!
