For those of us lucky enough to be getting a pay check right now…
there is probably a boss around somewhere.
What will you do for your boss on National Boss Day?
You could buy a gift or a card or an e-card. But you really don’t have to spend any money. It’s the thought that counts. And it’s the message that counts even more.
It could be simple message like: “Thank you for the job and the pay check.”
Even better would be to add a sentence that says: “I appreciate your _________ .” Or: “I appreciate the way you _____”
Examples:
“I appreciate your flexibility and sense of humor.”
“I appreciate the way you work to build a positive work environment.”
Or you would really make her day, if you could think of something specific he had done. Something like: “I appreciate the fact that you ___________ because it caused me to _________.”
Or: “I’ve become a great _______ because of the _______.”
Examples:
“I appreciate the fact that you gave me a pay cut a while back because it caused me to become better at what I do.”
“I’ve become a much better manager of my time because of the workshop you sent me to. Thank you.
A message like this would be very meaningful.
If you are stuck on what to say – come back throughout the week for stories others share about their bosses. These stories may trigger some ideas and memories.
And they will be rich with messages for those of you who, in addition to wanting to thank your boss, want to become a better one.
