Fight the dog days of summer by celebrating National Ice Cream Month. In the process, you can boost productivity, morale, the economy – even customer loyalty.
According to Wikipedia, July was designated as National Ice Cream Month by Ronald Reagan in 1984. He also declared the third Sunday in July (July 19) to be National Ice Cream Day. He stated that these two events should be observed with “appropriate ceremonies and activities.”
Wikipedia also stated that the ice cream industry provides thousands of jobs for United States citizens and generates annual sales of approximately 20 billion dollars.
So let’s stay cool, support our dairy farmers and all who sell ice cream.
Ways to celebrate with your staff:
1. Serve ice cream at staff meetings.
2. Bring in a box of ice cream sandwiches or nutty buddies and deliver them desk to desk after lunch on one or more hot days.
3. Have an ice cream sundae party. You could supply the ice cream and ask everyone else to bring a favorite topping.
4. Arrange for an ice cream truck to show up in your parking lot one afternoon – or lots of afternoons!
5. Take the staff to a local dairy farm, take a tour and of course, eat lots of samples.
6. Invite spouses and kids to join in, perhaps on Sunday, July 19 – National Ice Cream Day.
Ways to include your clients:
1. Invite clients to join you for the ice cream sundae party mentioned above.
2. Deliver a box of ice cream sandwiches to your client’s office IF you are sure they have a freezer to store them in.
3. If any of your clients sell ice cream, be sure to they know that it’s National Ice Cream month. Surely they do but just in case…
4. If at all possible, buy the ice cream (mentioned in above ideas) from your clients who sell ice cream.
5. If you sell advertising to clients who sell ice cream, take them advertising and promotion ideas that feature National Ice Cream Month.
Choose one of the ideas from the list – or make up your own. Celebrate simply or feel free to Super Size it like Tracey did with National Salsa Month.
Just DON’T let that Super Size story keep you on the sidelines. Jump in and make full use of the excuse to celebrate. To have fun, show appreciation and break the tension. fighting off the dog days of summer
