Facing the impossible or improbable?

roger bannisterFifty-nine years ago today, Roger Bannister did something that scientific and athletic communities considered humanly impossible.

He ran a mile in less than 4 minutes.

Only six weeks after he accomplished the impossible, someone broke his record.  And today running a 4 minute mile is routine among professional runners – and high school students.

Each person reading this is most likely facing his/her own impossible or improbable task or goal.

In addition to reading Bannister’s Barrier Breaking Tips (see link below), I suggest not just one, but two Quotes of the Week.  First –

There are a million reasons why you can't...

Make a list

of all the reasons (or ways) you CAN accomplish this seemingly improbable/impossible task/goal.  Then…

Start by doing what is necessary...

Start with a few calls, orders, interviews, or whatever action steps are needed to accomplish your goal.

If you did five today, do seven tomorrow.  The next day, do ten.

Push yourself to do take at least one more action step than you really feel like taking.

Review your list of “can’s” several times each day.

Post both of the above quotes as reminders.  (See printable versions below).
