Movie of the Week: Do you have a Delores?

Mistake CakeWhile searching for good movies for Mistake Management Month, this one entitled, “Coffee Goof”,  grabbed my attention.

The goof isn’t that big but watch how she handles it.  And before that, notice how she tells him what to do, shows him and then has him do it.  Perfect model for teaching.

She directs.  She corrects. She laughs.  And look at interactions with her customers.   2500 cups of coffee in a day.

It’s a cool video even if you don’t realize that Danny is actually  Joe DePinto, President and CEO of 7-11, working as an Undercover Boss.  More detail on that below.

But first, grab some popcorn and watch this little 4 minute video.

Impressive, isn’t it?

Do you have a Delores?

In case you’d like to see what happens after Danny’s week of undercover work, we’ve included that video as well.  It’s a bit longer – 10 minutes.  But it will be worth your while.

A few questions for thought and/or discussion:

  1. Do you know what it’s like to work for you and your company?
  2. How could you find out?
  3. I mean how could you REALLY find out?
  4. What do you know about the people who work for your company?
  5. How could you find out more?
  6. What would be the benefit of you knowing?
