In addition to covering the items listed in 10 Important Things To Do Mid-Year, Jan suggested doing something fun with your team. It could be a separate activity or several activities woven throughout your agenda. Here are 10 starter ideas. From there – find something that fits your time frame, location and group.
1. If you do it in July, choose one of the suggestions in 10 Ways to Boost Morale & Productivity in July
2. Bring in a punching bag. Take turns punching. Especially appropriate when discussing mistakes, problems and obstacles.
3. Bring in a karioke machine or even better, take the team to a karioke bar.
4. Take everyone bowling. You don’t HAVE to tell them in advance. You could make it a spur-of- the-moment thing.
5. Go to a water park like Wet ‘n Wild. Be sure to do the bumper boats!
6. Go to a cooking class like these at The Fearrington House.
7. Go to the symphony. If there isn’t something like this available in your area, take everyone to the symphony and lead a group discussion in what it takes for them to perform.
8. Do a ropes course nearby or this one that says they’ll come to you.
9. Go white water rafting.
10. Take driving lessons.
We’d be glad to help you plan and facilitate a productive retreat that lays the foundation for strong performance.
