If you want to be a better manager, build a better team and get better results so that you can make a difference in this world….Coach John Wooden is an excellent role model. Today we suggest several videos that feature him. They are of varying lengths – 17 minutes, 3 1/2 minutes and multiple mini-clips. Grab some popcorn and watch one or all.
Feature #1 is just under 4 minutes long. It features Coach Wooden talking about his core beliefs. As you listen to him talk about caring, think about the impact you can have as a manager…finding the winner in each person. Helping each person realize his own potential – and his own definition of success.
Feature #2 is a 17-minute video from TED.com. Their description of it: “With profound simplicity, Coach John Wooden redefines success and urges us all to pursue the best in ourselves. In this inspiring talk he shares the advice he gave his players at UCLA, quotes poetry and remembers his father’s wisdom.”
Features #3 – 14 – Many more video clips are available on the official John Wooden site. When you get to the site, you’ll see his definition of success in print. From there, click on the tab labeled “Favorite Maxims“. The intro video is terrific. It gives an overview of his coaching career and his view on success.
From there, you can choose between 11 clips – one of them is him telling the story we shared in this week’s Quote of the Week about Bill Walton and his beard.
While you are on the site, be sure to click on the tab labeled: Pyramid for Success. In addition to offering a printable version of it (see below) – you can get detailed information by clicking on each part of the pyramid.
The site is loaded with jewels that can help you be a better manager. So that you and your team can get better results and enjoy your definition of success.
Hope you enjoy www.coachwooden.com
