What a perfect movie to go along with our quote of the week. It clearly demonstrates nonsense in action and its impact on morale and productivity. Sounds pretty wise to me.
Patch Adams is a about a physician (played by Robin Williams) who takes an unorthodox approach to practicing medicine. His use of humor and science doesn’t go over well until those around him see the positive results. By using nonsense, he makes his patients and fellow colleagues feel upbeat, even when times are tough.
Isn’t that what we want in the workplace, too? It’s not always fun and games. Often it can be no fun at all. But, laughter causes us to step back and feel that any problem can be solved if we combine some silliness with the serious.
So how does nonsense make sense in the workplace? It can boostmorale, productivity, loyalty, longevity and team spirit.
We hope this video clip will inspire you to try one of our Quick List: 10 Wise Ways to Put Nonsense to Work or come up with your own way to celebrate the silly side of business. And then enjoy…the silliness and the results.
Go get the popcorn and gather everyone around.
By the way… for those of you in the Triangle area (NC), be sure to enjoy the local scenery as this movie was filmed right here.
