2010 is marching right along. Are you keeping pace?
If you are like many of us, there’s at least one thing you’ve been planning or wanting or hoping or meaning to do – but you haven’t even started it. And if you are like many of us, you’re beating yourself up about it and doing a number on morale and productivity.
If all of that is true about you, stop for a few minutes and congratulate yourself for the things you HAVE done.

What single step can you take to get started?
- Take it today.
- Repeat until you’re marching right along toward that thing you’ve been planning or wanting or hoping or meaning to do.

What about your staff or team members? Are they marching right along?
- Chances are that a few of them are marching right along in some areas but not in others?
- If that’s true, have a discussion with each of them.
- Congratulate him or her on the things he/she HAS done.
- Ask about the thing he hasn’t seemed to start. It may be that he has started it and you just don’t realize it.
- If he has started it:
- congratulate him.
- ask what his next steps will be and when he plans to take them.
- follow up accordingly.
- If he hasn’t started it:
- ask what’s holding him back and coach him through the obstacles.
- read the above quote to him.
- ask what his first step will be and when he will take it.
- it may be that he has no clue what the first step should be and if that’s the case, coach him on this.
- in closing, ask him to tell you when he takes the first step.
