Read this if you are a manager or business owner who cares about morale and productivity. “To permit a disagreement to go on and on is a sure sign of a weak and ineffective leader”. Yow! That kinda stings doesn’t it? It’s a lot easier and feels a lot better to point the finger at those in conflict. But – um – let’s read that again. “To permit a disagreement to go on and on is a sure sign of a weak and ineffective leader”. Though it has a strong sting element, that statement is one of my favorite parts of Tom Lutz’s book called Dare to Lead. The title alone serves as a great reminder – a great mantra – for those of us in leadership positions. Don’t stop with the title though. The content of the book is extremely valuable too. It’s not just about handling disagreements. It’s about action. And about important principles which can serve as a foundation for it. Not just any ol’ action. It’s about action that will bring “top performance from people by treating them respectfully.” I had the opportunity to interview Tom about his book and Jordan got us all set up so we could offer it to you. Press the “play” button (left) to hear a quick excerpt, in which Tom shares a story about a management situation that he dealt with. I imagine you have dealt with something very similar If you’d like to hear the complete interview, type in your email address* and we will send you a link to the download. No charge.
